“I am fascinated by the cyclical motion of the natural world and the sensation I have when I observe it. Life and death makes more since to me when I am swimming through big waves, feeling the wind or touching a flower. I always lived in cities - what drove me to create a tetralogy of albums dedicated to the seasons, is the longing for nature from a city-dweller’s perspective.”

STORY

Banda Magda was formed in New York in 2009. The original members were Ignacio Hernandez on guitar, Mika Mimura on vibraphone, Petros Klampanis on double bass, Keita Ogawa and Marcelo Woloski on percussion. Between 2009 and 2019, the band grew into a large community of New York-based musicians.

At its core, Banda Magda was a way to create one’s own universe, brought to life through friendship and creativity.
